  1. NEVER HEARD SUCH BIASED REPORTING IN MY LIFE,AND I SUPPORT ISREAL BUT NOT THIS SO CALLED EYEWITNESS .WE KNOW THE IDF TAKES STEPS BUT [HAMAS NEEDS TO STOP SEND ING ROCKETS OVER THE BORDER.
COLLATERAL DAMAGE WILL OCCUR AND HAMAS HAS NO CREDIBILITY DONT DEFEND SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT NEED DEFENDING .AND CAN NOT BE DEFENDED.
SYRIA ONLY NEEDS TO BE LOOKED AT RE CASUALTIES IN CIVILIANS FROM COALITION FORCES

  2. Haha ! I stopped watching this AD PR prom when it said that Israel is a decent country with western values.
Israel is a paranoid middle-eastern State ruled by dictatorship and corruption. They are more a kin to nomadic tribes than to any modern western country.
I follow Defense Issues blog and I know about its fascination about Israel but this post is no more than a ridiculous propaganda. Worst than any Soviet or North Korean propaganda.
Israel a decent country?! Wow! That is the end of times!

    • I do agree with much of what you wrote, but Israelis at least have very good reason to be paranoid. Western values led Western Europe into chaos. You cannot integrate with people who do not want to integrate, and over here we have had a very good look at multicultural integration during 90s. Not an experience any sane person would want repeated.

  3. “The world’s most moral army” = a cliche repeated a thousand times until it becomes “truth”. It’s ironic that a state established in the shadow of the Holocaust itself regularly uses the Hitlerian technique of repeating a lie until it becomes a revealed truth that no one can question lest they be accused of “anti-Semitism”.

No doubt, though, that some will point to the IDF’s “humanity” as the reason why it extends medical treatment to terrorists tearing apart Syria so that they can be sent back into that country to behead civilians.

The focus on Hamas is also disingenuous. Israel has carried out the same brutal war crimes and crimes against humanity regardless of the political or cultural character of the Palestinian resistance, whether they be liberal, Marxist-Leninist, or Islamist. Indeed, Israel at one point cultivated the rise of Hamas as a bulwark against Fatah. Then, when Hamas was getting too troublesome, it tacitly supported Fatah. And around and around we go, with pundits always pointing to something other than the structural nature of Israel’s violence (which flows ineluctably from its existence as a racist settler-colonial state) as “the reason” why Israel engages in these crimes. When someone tells me, “But Hamas is firing rockets into Israel!”, I tell them that they’re putting me to sleep because I’ve heard it all before. To use the lazy excuse that “Israel has a right to exist” is to say in effect that victims don’t have the right to resist being victimized.

    • Ironic, maybe, but nothing unusual. Western liberal democracies all use the same technique to promote liberal ideology.

But as far as I can see, in the Middle East, both parties are at fault. Palestinians, and Muslims in general, would never accept Israel’s very existence. Israel on the other hand is encroaching onto lands that UN mandate had given to Palestine, even settling people onto these areas.

      • Indeed, it’s not unusual, but it’s particularly morally heinous in the case of Israel given that they use a propaganda technique promoted and lionized by the man who launched the Holocaust – and they do it in pursuance of the maintenance of a European racist colonial model, no less.

Explicitly Islamic-inspired anti-Semitism aside, I don’t see that Palestinians (or even Muslims in general) being against Israel’s existence is an example of a party being “at fault”. By requiring Palestinians to acknowledge Israel’s “right” to exist, they are being asked to acknowledge the righteousness of their own displacement and oppression. UN mandates are relevant to the discussion (in that they show how routinely at odds with international law Israel’s behavior is) but also kind of beside the point in the larger scheme of things; the moral importance isn’t that the UN mandated that the land be “given” to Palestinians, but that this land already belonged to them.

        • Islam as an ideology is against Jews and therefore against Israel’s existence. I believe I had tuched it in my article on Islam:
          https://defenseissues.net/2017/07/01/islam-a-religion-of-peace-or-a-totalitarian-ideology/

In fact, most attacks on Jews in the West – and in the world in general – are perpetrated by Muslims. And when you look at history, long-term, it has little to do with Israel’s existence.

Now, fact is that Jews were displaced from Israel by the Romans. Palestinian national identity did not exist until 20th century. In fact, the very concept of a nation is at odds with Islam, and was not accepted by Arabs in Palestine until 20th century. The origin of “Palestinians” as a nation may be connected with the creation of Palestine Liberation Organization in 1960s.

Now, it is possible to argue that Palestinians draw their origin from the Phillistines. But Phillistines themselves draw origin from *after* the Jewish migration from Egypt to Israel. The original ethnic group in Israel were the Caananites, who spoke Semitic language. But they were assimilated into Israelis, and ceased to exist.

The term Phillistine means “an invader”. In historical books, Phillistines are also known as The Sea People, and they attacked Egypt as well. Their territory in Canaan was only slightly larger than today’s Gaza strip, and Phillistines dissappeared from history by Roman times. And if Palestinians are Phillistines, they ought to ask Greece to give them Crete.

Palestinians are an artificial ethnicity, existing from 1967., much like Bosniaks are an artificial ethnicity, created after 1945. for purposes of Tito’s Communist Party. Funny how often Muslims are used as attack dogs for purposes of imperialists. The name Palestina was created by Romans specifically for the purpose of erasing Jewish nation. And since that is precisely what Muslims want, as commanded by their holy books, they keep using Palestine as a weapon against Israel. Palestinian identity is nothing but a weapon. Despite Diaspora, population of “Palestine” was predominantly Jewish as late as 1913., and during the whole period in between. Current “Palestinians” are descendants of 20th century immigrants from across the Arab world. Arabs only gained control of Canaan after conquering it from the Romans (so-called “Byzantines”), and lost it in 1071 when Turks conquered it.
